ARE YOU WILLING TO JUMP INTO THE PAST?
The past is very different from the present...but it's also the same.
Basic things about being human never change...
The importance of family and friends. The struggle to survive.
Adventure. Mystery. Love.
my first novel
On April 9, 1865, in Appomattox Court House, Virginia, the bloody Civil War is finally over...OR IS IT? For twelve-year-old Emma the war still rages. Sherman's Army of Destruction surrounds and occupies her city. Emma dares to defy the 100,000 Union troops. She smuggles. She spies. She steals. But has she put her little brother Micah and the rest of her family in jeopardy? Will her city burn as a result of her head-strong choices?
In 1910, Trilby longs to finish high school and attend music school. Instead, poverty forces her to work in a hot and dirty cotton mill. Exhaustion, desperation, and determination to pursue a different future lead to lies and betrayals that threaten her family and the love and respect of her new best friend Glenn. Can Trilby find her pure voice and speak truth, mend lives, and still fullfill her dream?
THE GRAPEVINE SWING
Swinging in the grapevine swing,
Laughing where the wild birds sing,
I dream and sigh
For the days gone by,
Swinging in the grapevine swing.
